Ordo reopened, Online Cup

Friday, August 29th, 2008

First of all: I busted a finger playing Basketball. This means I cannot type, which in turn means I cannot communicate as I would like, postponing stuff like my GenCon diary. Sorry for that!

With Warlord 4E well on its way into your grubby mittens, what lies ahead?

  1. The first expansion will be out in November. It will receive a pre-release at KoHIT and then become available elsewhere, officially Nov. 30th 2008.
  2. KoHIT will take place Nov. 7th-9th in Münster (where else?) and I’ll start pre-registration shortly.
  3. Until then I have another thing planned - the first Warlord World Online Cup! It’s an online single elimination tournament running over several weeks - much like the UEFA cup competitions. Every member of the Ordo Phoenicis Ascendentis is eligible to play, but there will be other ways to get into it as well.
  4. In light of this, I am reopening the Ordo Phoenicis form. Those who would like to join now can. If you sign up for at least 4 æris, as a Knight (or above) you will get a Full Base Set (6 starters) as well as the Promo Cards (Kerebrus, Paymaster Corr, Ta’anar Tol’son). You will not become a founding member anymore, though. New Members (1-3 æris) will get their new promo cards starting January 2009, but already be eligible to enter Ordo events.

The Iron Golem

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

Before being enclosed in the Forgotten City of Thas-Lirith, Loki created the master piece he was hired for: The Iron Golem. It guards the ancient scrolls of lore of the Thessyrian Empire, reason enough to get past him.

Iron Golem

Loki effectively loses his Overlord trait, when an Iron Golem is included in the deck. Meaning you can still only play one Iron Golem in a deck with him.

Shipping cost for US lowered dramatically.

Monday, August 25th, 2008

As of now I have changed the way the shop calculates shipping for US customers. You will find now, that orders of one to four starters (well, basically everything up to two full sets) are considerably cheaper.

Happy hunting!

A bit of patience

Monday, August 25th, 2008

For those waiting for me to return to them on things: I am currently being swamped. I pushed everything to after GenCon in order to get things done, and especially the product in customs thing had taken a lot of energy, effectively flattening me after I got back.

I am getting back on the horse now, but there are other projects to be attended to, my wife is in her 39th week now and there is a lot of things needing to be done behind the scenes (tax reports, stuff like that). We are a very small company so pretty much all of it ends up with me.

So I beseech you: Stay patient, somewhat. Development for the first expansion is well underway and due out in late November (with a pre-release planned for KoHIT).

Shipments for the Ordo Phoenicis Ascendentis members who were not at GenCon will go out soon as well - and I’ll include a small bonus for the tardiness. I accidentally took the promo cards for it back with me to Germany, so they’ll need to be resent to the US. :(

GenCon Diary, Part 1

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

It all started on Monday. It had been confirmed that the product had arrived in the port of Chicago the week before, but I thought I’d rather check up on it. Calling internationally I found out the bad news: The container with the cards had been impounded by customs on behalf of the department of agriculture, since it was supposedly containing illegal seeds. WTF?

With Oliver arriving at the train station around 4 p.m. I was all busy packing the last promo cards, making all orders ready, and calling to the US at half-hour intervals to get some plan going to get my two pallets out of the special customs yard and to surpass the wall of “nothing we can do”s. What a way to start GenCon.

GenCon is over

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008

A little jet leg, bleary eyes and a memory of an incredible week-end is all that remains of GenCon. Oliver and I had a really fun (if exhausting) trip to Indianapolis. Thanks to all the great players who stuck with Warlord that week-end - you gave us the reason for continuing our heart’s blood into Warlord. OOOOOOAAAAH. Wow. Big cramp.

Where was I? Yup. Obviously my mind is not as well connected yet, need a few more days worth of sleep to catch up. Tomorrow I’ll start with my personal recollections about GenCon and how we saw it. See you tomorrow!

Where to find us at GenCon?

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

For those who did not see it: We are nowhere close to the AEG booth. In this thread you’ll find a map of where our booth #2314 is at (close to the art show).

Stroll by - this is also where you will get the sheets for the Quest of Heroes, pre-ordered product, and Ordo Phoenicis Ascendentis promos.

One little caveat: The pallets with product currently are in customs in Chicago. It’s a whole separate story, but we still hope to have the product in place Thursday morning. Keep your fingers crossed!

See you at GenCon!

The Challenge System at GenCon

Sunday, August 10th, 2008

Time to reveal how things will work at GenCon. You have already seen Loki. He represents the first challenge in the Forgotten City of Thas-Lirith. As the armies of our heroes delve deeper into the city after conquering him, they will encounter additional challenges.

This is an overview of what we have planned at GenCon. For each challenge tier to be revealed (and thus available for challenge), the previous one needs to have been beaten. (more…)

The GenCon T-Shirt challenge!

Friday, August 8th, 2008

You didn’t think I was running out of topics, did you?

So, here is a new little game: At GenCon I want you to help me brand Warlord by wearing any Warlord T-Shirts you have. It’s already part of the Hero Quest, but I realize you cannot wear the T-Shirt you get there all four days (or you better hand-wash it each night ;-)).

So here’s the deal: I’ll be wandering the halls every now and then (moving from the dealer’s hall to the CCG hall - whereever that might be this year, for example), and whoever I meet wearing any Warlord T-Shirt, will get a promo card from me! This does not apply to the two areas above (around our booth and event HQ), but the areas, where other gamers can see you. And I will stalk the hallways at night, too ;-).

Any of the Warlord T-Shirts that have come out over time will do - but obviously the more striking it is (large logo, etc.) the more easy it will be for me to see you.

I also look forward to see you guys play in hall ways, open gaming areas, etc. Let people see that you are having fun with Warlord!

The Office will be closed during our trip

Thursday, August 7th, 2008

You probably expected this: The office will be closed from Aug. 12th to Aug. 19th while we are away for GenCon.

This means that this Friday (Aug. 8th) will be the last day I am going to send out/process shipments. That in turn means if you live in Europe or in America (including Canada and Brazil) and are not coming to GenCon and you want your cards as soon as possible - order and pay until tomorrow! Otherwise it will take something like two weeks before we can process orders again (Aug. 20th).

For those who do come to GenCon: Bring proof of purchase (just in case) and a photo ID.
