Best Fansite 2008

It hasn’t been easy. Not easy at all.

Thanks to all of you who have followed the call and produced a Warlord fansite. I really know how much effort, skill and perserverance goes into such an endeavor. And I really hope all those websites will stay with us and inspire others to crop up.

But now imagine the little envelope, the crowd growing silent, the tearing of paper, “And the Winner is:”…

Roy Hembree’s Warlord Wiki

I know Roy prepared the Great Omgah’s Lair as his bid for the prize, but in truth it’s his Wiki that has served the community so well and I am sure that if you look at the statistics for it, both content and pageviews have considerably grown in 2008 compared to 2007. Thank you, Roy, for
your commitment.

Faction Weapons

That being said I would say we have had some other notable efforts, and I would like to award these, too. Call it the silver medal, if you want.

Dwarven Uprising

A WordPress blog, slowly gaining in content. I look forward to see more original content here (maybe some tournament coverages/reports - I always love those) in 2009.

Empire of the Black Sun

The basic blog, easy to set up, but with a very nice self-made theme. It’s not easy to bring out the added value (and content) on these, but it’s on a good way to get started and I hope to see many Deverenian related speculation, as well as information about the Stony Brooks Warlord community here in the future.

Southern Kingdoms

The only play group oriented website in the competition gives the Southern German players (who live in a radius of about 75 km in a hilly region) a focal point.

The Price of Defiance

The third blog in the bunch (can I blame them? ;-)), this is the very first website dealing The Chosen. By the nature of it, pretty much the same reasoning applies to this runner up. It’s promising and I look forward to see more content (and especially deck lists - my Sanga-Kish in the Winter Campaign sucked) here.

All of these win the faction weapon of the faction their website deals with, plus 25.000 virtual GP.

Congratulations to all of you!

For 2009 we’ll take this as it is and judge where the websites go this year, for the Best Fansite 2009 competition. So keep up the good work!
