The Mad Jester

Monday, April 27th, 2009

I am back from EL:ITE - one of the premier Warlord events in Europe. Sure, it’s attendance is only rebuilding - as it is all over the world (EL:ITE once had 70+ players, but then at that one we all nearly froze to death because of a cold spell in Italy), but in terms of fun and food it’s a blast.

Among some great competition and meeting old friends a new Medusan Lord was revealed: Gixu (trying to pronounce that gets you as crazy as the character), former court jester of the Deverenian Emperor.

Gixu - the Mad Jester

So, another Medusan Lord for Europe while the US again go empty? False.

The image you see (I’ll leave it to players who have been at the release to spoil the details) is the mirror image of the real Medusan Lord, created in a moment of panic. These mirror images, due to the immense power available to their creator, act independently, though, and don’t disappear at a mere touch. In fact, their mere existence denies mortals to perceive their creator.

In technical terms, Gixu exists in several copies (as Archos Loth) did. He will be run by several people in Europe (including me) and the US and some copies are reserved for “traveling” to events of deserving TOs, being temporarily played by them.

When a certain number of them is slain, the real Medusan Lord level challenge behind it will become visible. I expect Warlord players to be busy with this task for quite a while…

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

It took a while, but as of today two items are available:

If you participated in any of the Winter Campaign main events, you can request the Winter Campaign medal in bronze (and the ribbon accompanying it) in the Cardmasters forum.

If you actually won one of them, you can instead request the Winter Campaign medal in silver with two silver stars. Go to the forum and show your mettle (medal).

Emissary Program starts

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

This week-end the Role Play Convention took place in Cologne. We were out there in force with our own booth. Once again it showed that Warlord is a great game, but it works best, if you have somebody to demonstrate it to you.

A lot of you guys know that, and are doing it already, without being asked.

For obvious reasons, I would like to give all of you an incentive to intensify you efforts. Therefore I am installing the Emissary Program as of now. (more…)

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

Their history is closely tied in with the Elves from other realms. Their fate has driven them to a safe place. A dark place. A dangerous places.

The Vaneris fled before the onslaught and they went deep. They adapted. Now the Vaneris return from the Deep to wreak havoc upon the land-living. And worst of all is their queen.

Alien eyes gaze upon Thessyria from deep caves and windy aeries. With open warfare breaking out all over the continent, even the most ancient start to wonder whether patience is the best course of action…
