In favor of Thunderstone

Do you recognize any of these artworks?

Thunderstone Dungeon Deck including Jackals of Mourn and Avinaar Esmerik

If you are an old-school Warlord player you will recognize two of them. The cards themselves, though, are part of AEG’s new Dominion-inspired dungeon delving game Thunderstone (delivery in Europe only).

Thunderstone Box

As it turns out, the game takes the Dominion deck building mechanics and builds upon it, making it a very fun experience. So much fun that I actually stayed up playing it until almost 3 a.m. in the morning (while having to get up at 6 a.m.) .

I got my hands on a few copies before the actual release, so there is a major side event tournament going on at KoHIT! On Friday you will get a chance to test the game and then you will get to play qualifying matches. In three 4-5 player matches you need to collect at least 7 points to advance to the finals (first place will yield 4 points, 2nd place 3 point, etc.) - this includes the learn-to-play match.

On Saturday there’ll be more qualifying matches and after dinner we’ll have two or three rounds of playoffs with the best two or so players in each match advancing to the next stage (details will depend on the number of players qualifying for the finals). The finalists and the winner will win bragging rights, and these:

Have fun at KoHIT!

Oh, yes, you were probably coming over here for a new preview, weren’t you? We have that, too:

Ghed Kazouf - Fire Wraith

Amon-Ka - scourge of the desert

OK now these are good, these are really good :).

I like how gray and purple have blented together, and he seem to be really powerfull.
Allthough he will see more use on Chosens rather than Elves.

  2. MechaDragon Says:

curious: Why is Amon-ka full bleed? Starting to feel the effect is getting a tad over used.

  3. Joshua Says:

Anyone else notice they are both card 110/179? lol

[Ed.: 110 is the default number of the template. It’s changed now.]

Useless…. too useless :( bad. I thought that The Coosen mix will bring us good creature, but it’s not a thrall and not a demon. Necromancer’s and undead subclasses - for elves only.

That art is amazing on both cards!

I think they forgot to put a little “trait” there… WARLORD. Good combos coming up…
