KoHIT 8 - Nov 6-8, 2009 - Münster, Germany
Whether you just started playing or are an old hand - KoHIT is the place to meet the friendly Warlord community!
What and when
KoHIT, King of the Hill International Tournament is the largest Warlord Event in the world, habitually rivaled only by GenCon (yes, GenCon has a lot more to offer “on the side”, so the two are not comparable, they are just both great!).
KoHIT takes place from Friday Nov. 6th to Sunday Nov. 8th. at the
Pfarrer Eltrop-Heim
Wolbecker Strasse 121a
48155 Münster
Germany
Pricing and Payment
35 Euros if prepaid (you can do this here in the shop), or 40 Euros on admission. This includes the Saturday night meal as usual.
Schedule
Usually we start on Friday around 7 p.m. with a side event, most likely an Ancients tournament. On Saturday we’ll run the 4E Singles and the Sunday is traditionally reserved for the 4E Doubles tournament.
Travel
You can travel to KoHIT by car, train, and plane.
Car: Not much explaining to do in the age of car navigation systems and online routing planers. You got the address. Prove yourself as the Scout that you are.
Train: Münster Hbf., the main train station is located on a main track running north and south. If you arrive at an airport other than Münster-Osnabrück, chances are that you’ll arrive by train.
The Deutsche Bundesbahn website. Look it up.
Airplane: Münster’s airport is Flughafen Münster-Osnabrück (FMO). It’s a very nice airport and we can arrange your pick-up there (or help you find public transportation to Münster - very easy). But it might be not that easy to get a cheap flight into it.
Travellers from across the Atlantic will most likely fly into Düsseldorf International Airport (DUS), not to be confused with Düsseldorf-Niederrhein/Weeze (NRN). Once you collect your luggage, take the sky train to the train station and get a ticket to Münster (best if you are a group, if you don’t take Intercity trains you can get a group ticket for up to 5 people). You might have to switch trains once at Duisburg.
Other airports are valid, ask me, when in doubt.
Hotels
For those arriving at the train station I recommend
or if travelling on a budget
Hotel Ibis or the Sleep Station for Backpackers
For those staying till Monday, there is the Factory Hotel Münster, which is right beside the new restaurant we’ll eat at on Sunday night (near to my house as well). They offer a week-end rate of 59 EUR per room, if you prepay. The rooms might fit 2-3 people.
Closer to the event location you’ll find the Hotel Europa as well as the Haus zum guten Hirten (German only). If there are enough people interested in using the cheap accomodation the latter one provides, I might book a contingent (it’s a church-run family hostel).
