KoHIT VII pre-registration is open

Monday, September 29th, 2008

It’s that time of the year again. The days grow shorter, the weather even more miserable, and Warlord players are itching to go to Münster.

KoHIT - King of the Hill International Tournament - is going into its 7th installment and it’s going to be fun to see a lot of old friends again.

So, if you live in Europe and play Warlord, grab your decks (even old ones) and come to Münster. I’ll put up more information shortly - but of course as usual I’ll be happy to help people coming from abroad.

Talking of which: Players from overseas will of course be very welcome, but personally I’d think that next year’s KoHIT will be even more worthwhile, so don’t sell your house to afford this year’s travel. And, oh yes, there is an exclusive alternate art Warlord handed out at KoHIT, much as Naram-Sin was at GenCon. I expect this card to generate quite some buzz…

That being said: Go the shop and pre-register now.

Let the Games begin…

Alas, in the forum I posted the first round pairings for the 28-player 2008 Warlord Online World Cup! I’ll do something fancy with it to post here when I get some time (har, har), but for now we can get things to start.

After spending three days more or less tugged into bed with a really bad flu, yesterday I had to get out and went to a nearby store (40 minutes train ride) and played in my first official Warlord tournament. Yikes, I am badly out of practice in tournament play, placing 12th out of 14th. But it was a lot of fun to be with the guys once more and just play.

I haven’t posted any photos in a long time, so here is the reason of my being so much incommunicado, this little bundle of joy (especially when he is on my shoulder or belly, hugging tight) keeps us on our toes a lot (directly or indirectly):

Update Sep 26th: Sorry, I have been down ill. That’s 26 so far. If I missed you, I can add you till tomorrow. Don’t forget to include your real name and the Warlord you want to play!

Remember: Each round you have two weeks to agree on a match time with your opponent. Should neither be too hard nor take too much time. Participation doesn’t cost anything, but there will be prizes (not solely for bragging).

The limited Online Play we are offering at this stage is especially meant for those players who have trouble finding opponents in their own backyard - so grab the chance to participate in the more prestigious events.

Google Map reveals Stores and Clubs

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

I just replaced the list of Stores and Clubs with a Google Map showing them.

What on the surface doesn’t look like that much of an improvement (very nifty, though), is a harbinger of things to come, as the data for this now is entirely database driven.

The same database will eventually be used to identify the tournament locations in Organized Play.

The Warlord Online World Cup

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

Things are starting to settle down a bit (at least I got some sleep last night ;-)).

Time to drop the next little event in your laps. While stores and clubs are still getting sorted I offer you another premier online event: The Warlord Online World Cup 2008 (WOWC ‘08).

How does it work? Well, it takes its structure from soccer cups (not THAT World Cup, though), being a single elimination tournament. Each round will give two opponents two weeks time to agree on a date to play a 75 minute, best of 3 match. The winner advances to the next round. This allows players from all over the world to participate. (more…)

Welcome, Rune!

Monday, September 8th, 2008

Yesterday, 8.34 a.m. we have had another addition to the Warlord family: My son Rune was born. He is 52 cm long, weighs 3660 grams and looks about as healthy as they get.

Both he and his mother are well.

“Rune” is pronounced on the first syllable, with a very short and hard “e” at the end, much as my own name (not “ee” or “ie”).

It’ll take a few years to train him to take his place in the cut of Warlord tournaments, though…
