Menher Erratum

Sunday, October 31st, 2010

Recently a question has come up whether the card “Sunder the Soul” works with Menhetiri’s action. The intended answer is yes, but in order to make it watertight, here’s a minor update to Menhetiri’s action text:

Menhetiri - errata’ed

The key sentence is “after an opposing level 0 or lower character is killed…”

As this is a clarification rather than an actual erratum, this change is in effect for KoHIT!

Ahh. A mean stomach bug cost me two days, so there is only a quick pre-preview today. Enjoy!

The whole Shebang - and more Promos in the Store

Wednesday, October 27th, 2010

In Essen we offered a “get all for a lot less” to new players (yes, it was actually used) - much as the “The whole Shebang” offer in the US Shop.

In addition I am adding a bunch of promo cards to the shop - you can add them for free to your shopping cart, if it reaches a certain limit (for example: You order for $25, and can add one Gethseme Steelshard to it).

If you are looking for certain ones, please add them to this thread in the Cardmasters forum and I’ll get them online as soon as I can.

Chained to the desk again

Tuesday, October 26th, 2010

So, after a four-day “vacation” in Essen I am in the office again. The show confirmed the current trend: Board Games boom and collectible/tradable/customizable/living card games need to go the extra mile in order to just survive.

By comparison boxed card games with Warlord art in it thrive (i.e. Thunderstone, I almost sold all copies, but if you live in Europe you can still buy it here).

The two most interesting aspects for me were that for once when you demo the game of Warlord, you can still find players who absolutely fall into love with the game as I did, and secondly to talk about market developments and the business of making games with AEG’s John Zinser.

So expect some good things to come out of it in the next few days and weeks, as I turn the new and revised ideas into something I can present to you.

Essen Games Fair Oct. 21-24

Wednesday, October 20th, 2010

Hello!

These next four days I will be scarcely available as we have a booth at the Essen Games Fair.

If you’d like to come by - we are in Hall 9, Booth 17 (close to where we were last year).

For those of you in the US who can’t come - there’s a consolation prize: Buy “The whole shebang” in the US shop. It’s one of everything (APS #1 to #21, L2P Set and Treasure Chest plus one of every promo Warlord including Loki!) - and meant for players who’d really love to catch up.

The offer will run out on October 31st, though.

Forum re-opened

Monday, October 11th, 2010

The a bunch of about two years worth of updates has been successfully (as far as I can tell right now) done.

I have updated the forum languages, but in the process the forum buttons were reverted to their original blue (and for some reason German only) version.

Reskinning the forum is the next thing I’ll look into - but for now at least you can use the forum again.

Cardmasters Forum down for maintenance

Monday, October 11th, 2010

Hi!

I am running a much needed update of the forum software in the next few hours. I will notify you here when it’s “safe to tread” in the forum again.

UWODB v2.0 is coming

Sunday, October 10th, 2010

A few years ago I programmed the “Ultimate Warlord Online Deck Builder” - UWODB (in case you wonder, the “most common” pronounciation is “uwodib”). The idea was not only to provide a database to look for cards via the usual methods (class, level, type, faction, etc.), but to also catalogue them with a host of special traits, for example cards that use orders, produce ranged strikes or draw cards.

What I personally found very helpful was that as a registered player you could also save the cards you looked for to a deck, then tweak the deck and print it either as a deck list (to take to a tournament, or just to copy & paste to a forum or into an e-mail) or - in my eyes the best feature of all - print printer-friendly proxy cards that you could sleeve to test new deck ideas.

This system is now being overhauled. The main difference now is that it is tied into the Warlord-Forum at www.cardmasters.de . As a normal user you will find a complete database of all play-legal 4E cards. As a member of the Ordo Phoenicis Ascendentis you will have automatic access to the deckbuilding and printing features, as well as commenting on cards (comments that others can see).

The changes necessary to make this possible require a full reset of all decks, though.

So if you are still using UWODB and would like to keep the decks you created in there for reference - please print them out or otherwise save them!

Within the next three days I will delete the decks and get the new UWODB beta online.
