Sir Robert’s Presence

Monday, December 27th, 2010

With Christmas just over, here’s a little tidbit that will make the heart of any Sir Robert player beat faster:

Commanding Presence
Level 4 Fighter Item
Stance

Adjacent lower level characters have +3 ATK. This character has +1 ATK, AC and Skill for each character in this rank that his character is giving a bonus to.

It is still in playtest, so there might be changes to it, but I don’t really expect it.

Merry Christmas!

Friday, December 24th, 2010

Hello Warlord players!

Christmas is here and looking out of the office I see more snow than the region has seen in over 35 years. White Christmas is something that is not expected here (we are not like Florida, but usually all we see is rain).

Anyways - I wish all of you a merry christmas and a good time spending with the people who you love!

Behold the Lord Robert

Tuesday, December 21st, 2010

Many of the Free Kingdoms refugees held high hopes that their beloved Sir Robert of Andover would help them escape the drudgery they were in. So far he could not live up to the expectations. But, as any good leader would, he decided to step up and once again become a great warrior on the battlefield, putting his life at stake in order to give his armies a fighting chance at achieving victory, freedom, and the chance to having a life again.

This is an immediate erratum to the Warlord Sir Robert of Andover: He receives an additional Hit Point (4 HP total) and his order is changed to: “Order: Twice per turn: Until end of turn, target adjacent Free Kingdoms has an additional melee strike (base = target’s primary ATK) when he attacks. If Sir Robert is in the first rank the target may perform an order.”

Sir Robert of Andover - errata’ed version Dec. 21st, 2010

This gives him more versatility to play both in a support role as well as a front line role and marks the first step in jumping up our “three worst Warlords”. I look forward to playing him and I hope, so do you!

Winter is Coming

Thursday, December 16th, 2010

While this is ‘borrowed’ from Mr. Martin’s great fantasy series, it sets the theme for the upcoming Winter Campaign event series quite perfectly. Because now that the Winterhold is safe for a while, the focus shifts to Elves - and Winter. What makes more sense than bringing one of the favorite Elven fighters back into the fray?

Winter, Eternal

Stay tuned to find out more about the Winter Campaign Winter, Eternal challenges!

No more Commons!

Thursday, December 9th, 2010

With Chris on the team the discussion is turning ever more lively in the Design Team, but while I cannot reveal actual cards from the set right now, there is one interesting development I’d like you to know.

APS #22 and #23 will not contain any commons!

I have revised the rarity of the cards in both sets and “jumped up” the rarity of most cards.  What this does, basically, is to free up slots for approximately 10 additional distinct cards per APS, giving you much more to play with (so, if your buy two or three APS, you won’t have nine commons laying around, that you never touch - if you buy just one, you’ll still be able to get the ones you want from our single card dealers).

These extra cards will shamelessly use vintage artworks, mostly from cards that really never were let out of the collection folder (yes, some of you will object that they did play the odd card of them ;-)).  They also will be mostly extra actions and items that will obviously be usable in other Fighter or Rogue decks respectively.

Personally I am excited about the extra opportunities in gameplay this affords, and I hope you will be, too!

Chris Vaccaro joins Warlord Player Design Team

Wednesday, December 8th, 2010

I have the honor to announce that Chris Vaccaro joins the Warlord Player Design Team.

Chris has been a fantastically achieving player, master deck builder, Medusan Lord challenger, tournament organizer and all-around fun guy. He’s the complete package and has shown diligently in both playtesting Warlord as well as organizing events for the game, that he is a true fan, has an eye for the game and puts in everything he has to make the game fun for everybody.

Welcome aboard, Chris!

Cardmasters forum gains faction ranks

Tuesday, December 7th, 2010

In the past few days I have done some much needed maintenance work on the Cardmasters forum.

Apart from putting in official links to the Alpha version of the Cardmasters Card Spoiler and Deckbuilder (functionally the same as the original UWODB - but now if you are logged in as a member of the Ordo Phoenicis, you can automatically build and save as many decks as you wish!) I have restored the Engl./German forum buttons and updated a bunch of graphics.

While doing this I also changed the user rank system, which originally was derived from another card game. Now each user has the choice, what faction he wants to represent (Ordo members have their own ranks). You start out as a Mercenary on default, but you can opt to join your favorite faction at any time.
