Hello guys!
It’s heartwarming to hear that there are still Warlord players out there. Believe it or not, there are actually new ones coming out of the woodworks every once in a while.
Some of you may already seen him, but officially he hasn’t been on the list. Now he is - in both versions:
As a Lich Warlord, ready to summon Daemons, and the “Experienced” version as an Overlord:
Both can be received through orders (min 10 EUR for Sal’Azar, 100 EUR for Sal’Azar the Gilded) in the European Warlord Shop.
]]>Website, shop and forum won’t be tended for the next two weeks as I am on family vacation in Sweden!
Enjoy summer.
The missing MLs are on their way to the US. Express.

I’ll get them on the way to the US before summer vacation breaks out here.
]]>The basic idea is (well, was), that the ML player has three characters and faces three opponents at the same time. There are no special Items for the Oneiroi.

It was a very difficult birth. Wading through unresponsive upload software (for half a gig of database content), error messages galore und not a small mountain of frustration finally the EUropean Warlord-Forum is up again.
Follow www.cardmasters.de or forum.warlordccg.de .
]]>One reason for that could be that actually one of the packages out of the original APS 24-26 and Ancient Lore shipment got lost. DHL finally admitted that they couldn’t find a trace of it. Duh. I really have learned to hate to work with them (unfortunately UPS while much more reliable and quicker is also much more expensive).
Lastly there is still a few Medusan Lords that haven’t found their way to their winners. These are in print right now and will be available at GenCon at the latest!
]]>Will Atu continue to make appearances with your retirement from the running of Warlord?
My Answer:
In general all Medusan Lords will continue to make appearances - as usual it depends on their runners, of course.
In the case of Atu (and Queen-Mother Nyssara, which I am playing in lieu of Oliver Schaaf as well) I am certainly making that available, but due to time and money considerations, this will likely mean that it will be in central Europe only for the foreseeable future.
I’d love to travel to another GenCon, but right now I simply cannot afford that.
Of course the same applies to all 4E Dragonlords and Daemonlords. And there will be another, yet unrevealed (I hope ;-)) Overlord!
]]>The team behind Warlord is still there - and here are two rules addendums that will help clarify the rules a bit better:
Glossary - Add the following after the last sentence of On-Going Effect,
“If a duration is not specified, the effect lasts until end of turn.”
so that the entry reads,
On-Going Effect: A ‘continuing’ card effect that is generated by an action. The duration of an on-going effect is set when the action is performed. It may last as little as the duration of another action, or as long as the rest of the game. If a duration is not specified, the effect lasts until end of turn.
Bonuses and Durations - add the following after the first sentence,
“Changes to a character’s traits (including feats) similarly last until end of turn unless the effect says otherwise.”
so that the paragraph reads,
Bonuses and penalties to ATK, AC, Skill, HP or level last until end of turn unless they say otherwise. Changes to a character’s traits (including feats) similarly last until end of turn unless the effect says otherwise. All permanent or on-going effects on a card, including wounds, end when it leaves play.
Basically starting March 1st, 2012 I will continue to support Warlord play and sales as a continued commitment to the community, but I have not renewed the license for PHOENIX Interactive to publish new Warlord brand product.
Anticipating this as one of the possible outcomes I printed a number of interesting promo cards with the recent printing (including additional Warlords). I will continue to work with the Player Design Team to come with official ways to play 4E and I will continue to provide prize support for events.
This means if you love the game, you will find ways to enjoy the game in 2012 and beyond!
Publishing Warlord for the past three years has been a rollercoaster ride of immense proportions. There was a chance with the new distribution scheme to make it work again. Due to a multitude of reasons the best case didn’t come to pass and now I don’t see a way to publish a niche game like Warlord professionally in today’s marketplace. The odds are stacked against it and Warlord has already been the odd child that survived 10 years where the average age of a TCG is closer to 2 years.
Of course one of the reasons for the continued success of this game has always been the great community and I would like to thank all of the movers and shakers who have stood by the game, motivated others to play and went beyond the call of duty to support the game.
During the 4E arc of the game, there once again were a host of motivated people who helped me out a lot.
Warlord 4th Edition would not have been possible without the Player Design Team, the Rules Team and the Playtest Team. Lead Designers Oliver Schaaf and Tommy Pistole did a huge amount of work, along with Richard Carter, Chris Dyer, Florian Hüpper, Jeremiah Uselton, and Chris Vaccaro as well as Jeremy Harris, Vann Lee, and Vic Polites. Thank you and the Playtest Team for all your help and time!
Most notably I’d like to thank Don Tsuchiyama as the self-styled “shipping thrall”. He was the one guy who has tried to keep track of who in North America should still be getting what cards when I was too overload with all the other tasks. Don - Warlord would have folded a lot earlier if it hadn’t been for you.
In Europe of course there was Manolis Trahiotis who despite his own serious troubles has been stalwart in support Warlord events, assisting every KoHIT and keeping Warlord alive in Greece. Manolis’ support was invaluable! Thank you, Manolis!
Lastly I would like to thank John Zinser for giving us as a community the opportunity to give Warlord a second life. John has been great and supportive all the way and has proven a true friend and fan of the game through the difficult process of devising and executing an exit strategy. Thank you John!
